Overview
While the market's gaze is trained on technology, it is a material—copper—that quite literally forms the foundation of electronics and continues to play a key role in all aspects of the industry. As a top maker of lead frame materials for semiconductor devices and terminal and connector materials for automotive use, Mitsubishi Shindoh meets the needs of users and contributes to technological innovations in these fields.
We also seek to reinforce efforts in the area of fabricated copper products. We are involved in the development of high-strength copper alloys, we pursue high-level fabricating and surface-treatment techniques, and we make precision-pressed contour strips for electronic components and gas flexible metal connectors. In addition, we have a solid background in vacuum-deposition technology, which can be applied to the production of functional films as well. In this effort, we put particular effort into the development of electronic and optical materials geared to prevailing market needs and strive to expand the scope of application to new markets.

Quality Assurance
Front-line production quality efforts underpin reliability
To meet customer needs for high functionality and performance, from intake of raw materials to product shipment, thorough quality efforts are carried out at the front-line of production based on ISO 9001 Quality Assurance System certification, and our aim is to improve customer levels of satisfaction by offering products of high reliability.
Total quality assurance system supporting high-precision and high quality products
High tech fields require high quality at the nano level. At the Sambo Plant, we use leading edge instruments for testing, analysis and R&D for the improvement of production technologies. In 2002, we obtained ISO9001 quality assurance system certification, and are extending our quality assurance activities based on international standards company wide.

Environmental management system efforts
Wakamatsu Plant obtained certification under the ISO 14001 International Environmental Management Standard, and is working toward continuously reducing environmental loads. Going forward, we will carry out environmental pollution prevention and environmental protection activities, and through our measures for air pollution prevention, industry waste water management system enhancement, energy saving measures, and environmental volunteer activities, we will make efforts to reduce environmental loads and carry out plant-wide efforts for environmentally-friendly products and production.

At the Sambo Plant, providing a safe and clean environment is as a matter of course, we coexistence in harmony with the local community and work to protect the global environment. We obtained ISO 14001 environmental management system certification in 2002, the Sambo Plant continues to push forward for a prosperous, healthy and productive environment.
Research & Development
Continuing Development pursuing the possibilities of materials
To grasp customer needs and to be able to constantly present new products centering on copper materials, we pursue development based on the topics of 1) high performance alloys, 2) surface processing 3) fabrication technologies and fabricated products, and 4) metalized products, and carry out survey analysis through reinforced analytical capabilities, thus strongly promoting development.
The multitudes of alloys that emanate from our development department have earned the highest reputation around the world and are the pillars of Mitsubishi Shindoh's global strategy.

Our concept is to pursue the hidden potential of copper, and to invent alloys that are friendly to people and the environment.
Lead-free ECO BRASS(R) is a copper alloy with high-performance and excellent machinability through the addition of safe silicon instead of harmful lead. "WNS7," a lead-free copper alloy for keys which does not require coating, has high strength and excellent tarnishing resistance. "HRSC," has superior heat resistance, high strength, high conductivity, for the next generation of high pressure environmentally friendly CO2 air conditioners, and, "UR30," fabricated into a wire-net protecting the aquaculture industry from disease and predator losses promoting good ocean environment and ensuring food safety.
New alloys from Mitsubishi Shindoh and the Sambo Plant contribute a safe and prosperous society.
